The timing marks to use are spot-drilled on the faces of the timing gears.
The timing marks on the camshaft gears must align side-by-side, and as closest as possible on the Toyota,Camry 2.2 engine.

Testimonial: "thanks for the tip of the three marks ,with out it would have messed up"

Can some one show me timeing mark on 1997 nissan maxima please

wow a Nissan Camry.
what engine, ??????????
what are you doing, we dont know. so..
cam marks? chain marks?
spark timing?

in 1997, most cars have 6 or more marks.

Nissan V6? is it (guessing i am)
if doing major cam work , you will need far more that just mark data.

if doing serious work, i recommend the below
  1. a real FSM, from NISSAN if Nissan.
  2. alldata.com
warning:1
all nissan engines are All Interference
so doing cam work or finding engine dead,
do a leak down test by hand before cranking engine
or bend the valves.
after replacing chain, do a cyl. leak down test (a tool)
and if it fails, the valves were bent, do not crank engine
or the damage WILL cascade $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I need timing marks for a new timing belt

Hi Jan, The timing marks are as follows. The cam gear has a hole drilled through and this must be lined up with a punch mark on the cam bearing cap behind it. We find a flash light and a mirror are good tools to use. The crank shaft is on the oil pump housing and slightly raised. It is past TDC and lined with a notch in the crank pulley.Regards John

I need timing belt marks for new timing belt on a 1994 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L 4 cylinder

Firstly the no.1 piston should be at TDC (compression).

The upper camshaft sprocket has a smaller hole in the web. This should be lined up exactly with the TDC timing mark behind it on the cam bearing cap. In this position it will be vertically upwards.

At the same time the notch in the crankshaft pulley timing flange should be opposite the 0 degrees mark on the timing marks on the front of the lower belt cover.

I need to know the marks on the crank shaft and the cam shaft positions when placing the timing belt on and if there is clearance between the top of the piston and the valve. this is for a Totota Camry...

The pistons dont hit the valves on this engine so if the belt broke you should be able to just replace it. I cant remember the timing marks off hand but the crank definatelly has a notch that lines up with a mark on the timing case. I think under the crank gear, I think the cam lines up upright. At least you cant do engine damage if you get it wrong.

Hi. i am really need help, i have just take out the timing Belt on my 1987 Toyota Camry then i replaced a new Belt and the Car would not started and i think maybe i set wrong timing belt because i forgot...

Don't crank that engine over is the first thing you do. Take out th eplugs and turn the engine by hand to it's marks. Take the belt off, check it for marks, yes, no? If no, how about the old one? Does it have marks on it? Match them up to the new one. and make marks, , turn the left cam over to it's mark, does it have two? Turn the other side over to it's mark. put the belt on, crank mark on the crank mark, cam marks on the cam marks, don't line up? It should, If the engine hits the valves, you will have to turn the cams at the same time by hand so they don't hit, don't force anything, if you get the belt on there without moving the engine, spin it around a couple times to make sure it stays on it's marks. I hope you didn't do any damage already by trying to start it. Hope this helps.

I don't know. I'm working on and 04 RAV 4, it has chains. But I just want to suggest that you get a Haynes or Chilton repair manual from autoparts store. Invaluable! Good luck.
