1997 sunfire will turn over but will not start?

A 1997 Ford Contour is bigger than a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. A Contour is a mid-size car; a Sunfire is a compact car.

might check the ground by the battery its real sometimes breaks

On the times you try to start it and it dont crank do all your dash lights come on like normal?

When jumped off ,if it drags to start,have the starter checked,and if when jumping the car off,the starter turns the engine over real good,then the cables are most likely the problem,replace them.

Turn the key on, Leave the key on for 10 minutes until the theft light goes out. Turn the key off. Then it should start the next time you turn the key.

could be a loose connection on wiring m8 other than that im as puzzeled as u!!!!!!

replace engine control module

its a sunfire , have a buddy sit in your car and you go to the back have him turn the key to the on position... not the run position and listen for a buzz or whiiirrrrrring sounds, do this several times if no noise chances are your fuel pump is dead, a common chev problem, if it has no noise you can try giving it a few good whacks where the fuel pump is located at the tank and try again more often than not this will get your fuel pump buzzing again and then you will know if your problem is at least in the front or the back..
