My 1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition runs fine and yet the SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT remains on, even after I ran it through a Jiffy Lube. What does this mean?

this is one american motor i have done around this year and by-passed the immobilisor so i suspect that the immobilisor has already been by-passed but they didnt remove the bulb in the dash
check engine soon is just a maintence light letting you know that your in need of service kinda like a tune up it will also come up if there is a computer code stored. its not dangerous by any means you will be fine just have a shop scan the computer and check over things.
They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.
The only way to find out is to take it to a mechanic who has an engine
analyzer and the rubbing could be caused by a loose mudshield (or a
dozen other things).
