My 2000 Yukon XL sometimes makes a sound that I have always thought was the auto leveling system / autoride. I think it is usually or only when stopped.
HOWEVER, my brake light and ABS light come on when going down the road. The lights are then off next time I start it and may or may not come on during the next drive. I have read that the ABS module can make noise when not working properly.
So, can anyone diagonse this sound that they can not hear!?
How can I fix these lights?
Sorry, I aimed my response at those who may have similar problems looking for a solution. I realize that this thread is several years old , and obviously, haltman has long since resolved his issue.
The ABS module when active makes noise when it is trying to control the vehicle by applying "leave" and "press" mechanism. If the lights are coming on , it is possible that the ABS needs to be fixed. Take it to the authorized service centre to electornically diagnose and reset the codes.
The ABS module box is under the vehicle on the driver side about the driver seat. A dealership will tell you this is a 950 dollar part. I found places online that would rebuild mine for 125 dollars. I took that route and it has lasted 6 years so far in my 2002 yukon. My brother has a Tahoe and his went out the very same week, coincidentally. I had mine rebuilt and he bought a new one for a grand. His went out again 9 months later... I'm just saying, you might want to save some money like I did, with even better results.
