Location of oil pressure switch on a 1997 cadillac deville

first you need a oil pressure switch socket then the pressure switch is above the front engine mount bracket on the side of the oil filter housing adaptor.

take it back for a warranty check
could be a spun bearing problem or a simple oil pressure sensor/sender unit
have a oil pressure test done using a mechanical pressure gauge

Your oil pressure switch is defective, lose or open wiring and relay problem or reset the connector of your computer box. then unplug the battery connector count from 1 to 10 then clip the it back then test.

This problem is caused by a defective oil pressure sending unit on the engine in most cases. The oil pressure sending unit is located on the oil filter adapter housing on the front of the engine. It is hidden a bit behind the front engine mount bracket.

Either your oil is dirty and plugging up ports or the oil pump is bad.

Follow the lines from the power steering pump to the rack and pinion. There should be a high pressure hose, and a low pressure return line.

ok, change the oil to proper viscosity. This happened to me on my 1997 Cadillac Deville. The manual says that when this happens, the oil could be too thick (filled with gunk I suppose). Oil won't flow right when it hasn't been changed for a while.

first try and put some oil in it ....if the light went away..than check if you have an oil leak...if yes where?

Im trying to locate the relay switch to the headlamps

i would check the wiring going to the oil pressure switch. i had the same problem in my 95 deville. it was the signal wire touching the ground wire. in witch completed the curcit and turned the warning on. so check thair. if all is good. do an oil change reset the oil life.
