2000 dodge stratus tranny problems

I have a 2000 dodge stratus and the auto-transmission is giving me a problem. Went you take off and it gets ready to shift from first to second the car bogs down and acts if brake is applied. We had the upshift sensor replaced about 10,000 miles ago. I was suspecting the downshift sensor as being bad. what do you think?

There is no up shift sensor or down shift sensor,
there is a output sensor,input sensor,speed sensor,
you need to have your TCM checked to see which of these are at fault.

When should i change the tranny fluid & filter i my 03 dodge stratus auto transsmission the car has 100000 miles

I would always change Auto fluid & filter every 50,000 miles irrespective of what the manufacture states - it's cheaper than a new transmission!

My 2000 dodge stratus runs, for a while, then it slows down, the steering wheel tightens and them the car cut off. what's wrong here? I had the alternator replaced, starter replaces, battery checked an no...

I had this happen to me on two occasions, both of which did not turn out too well. This is probably a transmission problem. Apparently with the tranny problem, the car will run at about 20 mph for a time to allow you to get off the road. The car will restart and run, repeating the above. If this sounds like what you're experience, I'd take the car to a good transmission shop. Hope this helps.

I have lost the drive gear in my transmission, and the car will not shift, Is my transmission down or is this a sensor or relay problem

on dodge stratus when you have no gear change or slipping of gear change only 2 good possibility's do the the way those trannys are designed either!! the tranny filter is stopped up and need's changed which is rare on those tranny's or you have internal damage to the clutch pack/ clutch apply servo's and front pump

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9L with auto

has anybody checked to see if any wires were pinched in the bell housing. this is something that the people who installed the transmission should have addressed. the rebuilt trans. should have come with a new torque convertor. did it? youre heading in the right direction though.

Transmission failure

It sounds like what is controlling the trans, the TCM, is having problems, and you probably didn't need the first trans as I don't see too many problems with those trannies, just the electronics on them.

TRANSMISSION QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD

Pull the trans dip stick and smell it. Does it smell burnt? Your tranny might have gone out. I had an Avenger that the tranny went out at about 60,000.

95 dodge stratus transmission problem

Whoever told you that you need a new transmission was correct!! I had to have mine replaced last September. Unless you have a friend that's a mechanic it's going to cost you at least $2000.00 if not $2500.00. Hopefully you have some mechanic friends. GOOD LUCK

Transmission

Dodge transmissions require a very SPECIFIC fliud. It is called:
ATF+4. If you did noty ust this fluid, it will cause harsh shifts and downshifts. If you did use the right tranny fluid, then you will need to do what is called a "Transmission Quick Relearn". If you do not own a scan tool, any auto repair shop with a decent scan tool can do this, or you'll have to take it to the dealer. This procedure should take 15 minutes or less.
