I have a 2001 chevy silverado. The abs makes a loud sound under the truck. I took it to the dealer he pulled the 60a fuse for abs under the hood and said come back in 5 days he would have the part to fix it. This has now happened 3 times at about $700 each. What is a permanent fix or can I disconnect and not have the light? I need to pass Texas inspection.

First, Find a new dealer!! Then contact Chevrolet/GM customer service.. this should NOT continue to happen.. there is something causing this to repeatedly happen.. Your current dealer is not interested in finding the origin of the problem,,just taking your $$$$ and waiting for you to return and take more of your $$$$.
Elevate this issue within GM and get a service rep involved!!

You could remove the dash and remove the bulb... but a scan will show it...

if noise is higher pitched and coming in on valve time...(2wice for every revolution of motor..ie: faster)...then upper end pressure is down due to sludge, wear , lifter failure, valvespring failure,rocker stud lifting out of cylinder head (kinda common) cam bearings failing (very rare)..oil pump bypass stuck open..and a few other possibilities... respond and we will go over lower end sound (deeper ,slower) and see what identifies your issues .... miles

if the check engine light is on it will not pass, the airbag light will not make you fail but if the engine light is on it will not pass an emissions test.

Abs light is on 2003 chevy truck how can i find my problem
The ABS and parking brake lights kept coming on in my boyfriends 2001 Chevy s10. We took it to the Chevy dealer and they ran a diagnostic on it determining that the ABS module was shot (common problem for them mechanic said). The cost to have it fixed at the dealer was about $750. I found a place in Moscow Idaho that rebuilt the module for $130!!!! YAHOOO! You have to pay about $35 in shipping costs ($17 each way) but they returned it to us in 3 days.I was able to remove the module myself and didn't need to mess with the brake lines/fluid--it was simple and took about 10 minutes to remove it. The site steps you through removal/installation if I can do this so can you! Go to www.modulemaster.com to determine if you have an ABS module that they can rebuild. It's guaranteed for 5 years and if we had the dealer replace it they would only guarantee it for 1 year. So go to the module master and save some cash!!!!

03 Chevy 2500HD Service Brake System Warning
When you replaced the ABS sensor on the hub, did you clean and re-gap the sensor to the speed ring on the hub. There was a recall on the ABS Malfunction on your truck. The tire size don't make a difference to your ABS as long as all four tires are the size, There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. My 01 chevy silverado 1500 won't start MOST of the time.
There is a clutch safety switch under the dash. When you press the clutch it presses the switch. You might try replacing that and see if that fixes your problem. This would cause it not to start and everything would still come on.

You most likely have a wheel speed sensor dropping out this would make abs system think one wheel is locking up and therefore activate. this usually will happen rt before you stop at around 5mph or so.Also if you have bigger tires than factory and have not had abs programmed for this size it can aggravate it

Very loud Hum under driver side
There is an ABS fuse under the hood that you can take out, and the noise will quit. The noise is accually your ABS pump. They are kind of expensive.
