Could be a faulty temp sensor. You should have the computer scanned for trouble codes and check the sensor operation. Also make sure the radiator is full of coolant.
manifold air temperture or intake air temperture sensor is bad . you can check the voltage on it when cold then w/hair dryer warm sensor up an check voltage if the resistance is more than 500 ohms then it is bad.
It might not be related to the temperature but it can be due to failure of the thermister ( the temperature sensor) that is causing this erratic action.
So locate the sensor which is normally mounted on the area of the water pump .
Also check if there is any decolouration of the coolant if so flush and refill.
3rd dealer stated that the problem was in the differential pump valve, when the temperture sensor was giving a false reading and disconnecting the rear wheel drive. Replaced with GM Part 88896067, and it solved the problem. Mechanic stated that if it is ONLY the AWD light, then this is usually the problem. If the ABS Disable light also goes on, then it is the harness on the wheel sensor.
Clean with a contact cleaner fluid all the conector of the sensors in the fuel inyection system TPS, MAP ACTUATOR etc, just disconect one by one an reconect after clean
hi you have a problem in the idle control system usually the idle control valve check for air leaks around the inlet manifold and check the vacuum hoses i presume the engine check light is not on as the engine temperture sensor will cause the same problem yates210456
