A freeze plug is kinda like a metal cap that gets pressed into various strategically positioned holes around the engine. if your engine has water instead of anti-freeze during a freezing night it could cause the water to freeze and expand and pop a freeze plug out. they have to be pressed in. the actual freeze plugs themselves shouldn't cost more than about $20 the labor to install them will vary depending on how difficult they are to reach on your car. They are usually towards the bottom of the engine.

How much does it cost to replace 2 freez plugs in a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue

depends on which two freeze plugs you're talking about. Plus, we have no idea what labor rates are in your town. The plugs cost almost nothing. It's all labor and it depends on where they're located on the engine

How much dose a shop cost to repair freeze plugs

a 2005 should not have bad freeze plugs. I would try to look for other source of leak. but if it is freeze plug, figure about hour and a half to r&r starter to gain access to plug then approximately hour and a half to r&r freeze plug. I would figure that something else is leaking though.

How Many Freeze Plugs on a 1995 Ford Bronco 5.08 engine, and what would be an approximate cost to replace?

there are 6 freeze plugs in that engine. The plugs likely cost less than 20 dollars, problem is the engine will have to be removed to do this job so the labor will be expensive, probably 6 to 8 hours.

What is a fair price to replace a freeze plug on 1997 mazda 626

frezze plugs are 3-5 dollars the cost to install them is sometimes expensive because you have to remove parts off the car to get to the freezeplug ? so without knowing which one it would be hard to price ? some are on the back of the engine block and you have to remove the transmission to change thoses??

What is the approx cost to repaire the freeze plug

If you tap it in yourself, which sould be simple depending on the location, the plug will cost you a couple of dollars. You can also put in a rubber expandable plug that you can tighten with a wrench. Your local auto parts store will be able to help you decide which one would be best for you but the actual plug is very inexpensive.

Jeep cherokee 2001 box shape

Check your coolant to see how low a temp it's good for. What u are describing is the failure of a freeze out plug. They are there to protect your block and head from cracking in cold weather, if you don't have sufficient anit-freeze protection (old anti-freeze, or not enough anti-freeze). If the water in the engine freezes, the freeze out plugs are designed to be a weak point, popping out to relieve the pressure of the freezing water, hopefully saving the head and block from cracking. The other reason for failure is corrosion due to, again, insufficient or old anti-freeze. To remove, u just need an old screwdriver and hammer, knock a hole in the plug w/ the screwdriver, pry it out. Clean up opening, install new one w/ block of wood and hammer. Of course, the location of the freeze out plug is what determines how much room u have to do this, so u have to decide if it's easier to pull the engine, or remove the head. It would be wise to pull the engine, and change all the plugs as angelo63 suggest, when done flush the system, adding a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze/water.
