I'm sorry to tell you this but there is no solenoids for park or ignition.
the only solenoid that is stopping you from getting it out of park or to any gear was the inter lock solenoid that works from your brake switch.thats why you have to push on the brake to get out of park.if your shifter is on the floor, you can remove the solenoid and not have to use it,so i'm guessing the ignition switch did not power the switch to move the solenoid and thats why it wouldn't come out of park, your ignition switch "might" come back to you when you disable the interlock and the shifter can go back in fully.good luck
I have the same problem and found the plastic piece that in on the inside of the T handle is broken. i put a nut that would fit in the tube inside for now. i need to find the plastic part so if anyone has a place to get the part without the whole assembly let me know.
There is no solenoid to get the key out it has to be in the park possition. you can put the E-Brake on and crawl under the truck and disconect the cable at the trans linkage and then put the shifter in park to get the key out if this does not work then you have a problem at the shifter mechanism
Testimonial: "It seems that there has been an intermittantly "sticking" brake switch and interlock connection + poor shifter"T" handle adjustment."
I don't know much about Jeeps. But, I guess I'd start by looking up under the dash, usually there is some sort of mechanism that allows you take it out of park, when you have your foot on the brake. The reason the key won't come out is because the lock is probably not returning to the "off" position. When you forced it out of park you probably bent or broke something. There is no such thing as a ignition key release solenoid, as far as I know. I doubt that you will be able to access the shifter mechanism from under the truck. You may want try to remove the counsole somehow. If this ever happens again, after you get it fixed this time, remember on most cars and trucks if you turn the key to the very first notch, (NOT ON) you can pull the shifter out of park without having your foot on the brake. Then start the vehicle in neutral (N) position. Good luck!
