I have a 1996 Suburban that keeps blowing fuses when you step on the brakes. It works one time after replacing the fuse then blows the next time.
It sounds like you have a hot wire touching the body. Check & trace the brake hot wires from the rear lights back to the fuse block using a multimeter. Check for continuity between the hot and the body When you find it that wire needs repairing or replacing. It's probably somewhere that the wire has been rubbing against the body for sometime.
Check the turn signal flasher, and the trailer wire adapter that plugs in under the rear of the truck.Check the brake light switch,to see if it is grounding out on something.
