My check eng light is on and i have a tdc which reads po551 please help me.

You may need to send it in for diagnostics. The engine light on is letting you know that the PCM has identified a fault. This requires the use of a scantool to read the stored codes within the PCM. Code readers usually help but a larger scantool tends to be more informative. It is normal to see the traction control and brake light warning lights turn on when the engine warning lamp illuminates. Can't help from here , you need to take it to a qualified repair shop . If you knew what codes were stored ,maybe .

code po551 refers to power steering pressure(PSP) sensor/ switch--range /performance problem===causes --PS system--PSP sensor/switch
Have the power steering pressure checked as it may be a pump problem or just the sensor/switch.. Check the reservoir level as it may be lacking fluid.

Reinstalling the distributor can be tricky due to the worm gear. Did you verify that the rotor points to the #1 terminal when piston #1 is at tdc? Can you check the timing with a light?

the best way to do it is to remove no 1 spark plug and get the eng on tdc of the compression stroke and one of the marks will line up.hope this helps.good luck.

Ok,What you will need is called a timing tape. It is a piece of tape with timing degrees all the way around it and you install on your balancer so you can read the advance.This can be purchased from any perfomance store. just line up tdc on balancer with tdc mark on tape and wrap around your clean balancer. the other option is find someone with a timing light that will measure the advance.most higher grade lights will have an advance button that you push until Tdc is showing at timing marks and then you rread the advance on light.

i would check the power steering fluid to make sure it isn't low. if that checks out then i would just keep an eye on it.

i would double check my timing. make sure crank is tdc and cam mark is lined up. if so double check any connectors that you might have disconected
