If the underneath of your transmissions and motor are really greasy and dirty. There's probably a leak from a bad gasket. I would suggest changing your trans fluid and filter (gasket comes with filter usually).
drivers side under hood thru the same neck the transmission dip stick is in. be carefull to add only a couple ounces at a time using a transmission funnel and check while hot, running, and in park. each time after adding drive short distance and recheck.be careful to use only Chrysler approved fluid only. not all transmission fluids are the same. warning overfilling is as bad or worst that it being low. also worth noting do not use synthetic fluids or oils will cause oil pressure to drop. the same is true of the oil filter use only approved mopar brand filters or again oil pressure wil drop causing oil light to come on aqnd damage engine.
The last code (0498) indicates a small leak in the fuel vapour evaporative control system. Check all pipes for good connection and absence of cracks (leaks) to and from the charcoal canister. If the leak is significant you might just be able to hear the sucking noise when the engine is running.
The other three codes all relate to a transmission fault. First check that the transmission has plenty of fluid on the transmission dip stick. Top it up if low. Next check that the transmission relay and its fuse are OK. Pull the transmission relay out and put back again a few times, it could be a bad connection and plugging it in and out could freshen the contacts. Check the contacts to the transmission control module and ensure that they are clean and bright. If the problem persists take it to a transmission specialist.
Only check the level when it has been driven and warm. And while it is still running. Now, for the slow engagement, It may be draining fluid back into the pan, from the torque converter. Let it idle a little while before trying to drive it. That will fill the torque converter back up, and will drive right away. Takes about 2 minutes of idle time to fill the torque converter. Now, drive it and then, while it is still running, in park, check the fluid level in the transmission. It very likely could be low and could also be the slow engagement cause.
Flush out your transmission with the correct type fluid, Mopar ATF+4, and correct filter. Disconnect Negative cable, to reset computer, for at least 24 hours. Check grounding straps for PCM, ensure they are tight and clean.
This method worked on my 2003 Intrepid SE, 3.5L, Police Pkg car.
Good Luck!!
