"wrench" light came on and accelerator stop working in traffic

The exact same thing happened to me just this afternoon. Fortunately I was in limp mode(coast) to an intersection and didnt get rearended by the vehicle behind me. The "wrench" gauge/light came on and my accelerator just stopped working. I waited in 18 degree weather for a wrecker and when my 05 expedition was towed home my hubby crunk it up and it ran fine. I really think Ford should do something about this I would hate for someone to loose their life before they take action. There are too many expedition owners with the same problem for this to be overlooked.

Crunk it up ,that's good english . Cranked it up How many miles on the vehicle ! The wrench light is a warning light for the transmission or the electronic throttle control .All new vehicle's have electronic throttle control , there are position sensor's in the APP an in the throttle body an they ware out . It's your responsibility to keep it maintained . Not just to jiffy lube !To the Dealer to have diagnostic's run on the electronics. Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor vs. Throttle Position Sensor

SOURCE: my 2005 ford expedition i was stopped at a light

The wrench symbol stands for the electronic throttle control. This was a problem for me as well with my 05 Expedition. You have to take it in to the dealer and have them fix it. This will continue happening if you dont. I called Ford directly about this and they told me enough people have to call and let them know about this problem in order for them to issue a recall. The repairs cost me $750. But I had no choice but to have it fixed. Call Ford 18003923673 and let them know. There are alot of other people with the same problem and they should be responsible and fix it. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: 98 Expedition 4.6L Overheating, Blows Cold Air

Sounds like the fan and temp gauge (located on the intake mainfold is screwing up) , if its head gaskets it would be smoking out the tail pipe. Have you added any antifreeze if so was it once a week if so make sure nothings leaking on the ground if there isn't then its your head gaskets that would be a first for a 4.6 which is a good motor and none I would on ever had bad heads. I would check the water pump fan first with truck off grap fan at 9 and 3 and see if it wobbels forward and backward if so it's the fan. I have come across alot of bad fans. Fan would cost $30 and up. Rate of difficulty 1-10 I give it a 4.

How do I fix my 2004Ford Focus going into limp mode doesnt do it all the time bad after stop and pulling out into traffic . engine light doesn't came on (?)

TEDDY is right on Point. First if this is happening, YOU should not be driving it. YOU are a danger to yourself and those around you and I am sure you do not want to cause an accident or be in an accident.... with that said... I am 95% sure your issue is Transmission Related although Teddy is correct with the other issues that could cause it.

Limp Mode is designed to "GET YOU OFF THE ROAD SAFELY" (you know... Limp Home).... Now that you are home, you need to discover the issue and the vast majority of the time with the Focus is the Transmission Codes. Many of these "MAY" set a CEL but not always, once you start to Scan the vehicle with a Diagnostic Scanner, the issue may be plain to see. Majority of time it has to do with the TCC Solenoid (Torque Converter Clutch)... It could also be something as simple as a Clogged Fuel Filter, MAF Sensor, Clogged Converter are some issues that can cause it.

Scan the Car and you will get some more information.. Something like a P0191....

Let us know what you find out..

2008 ford taurus stopped accelerating while driving down the road

There are a number of causes for this to happen, jumped timing chain/belt, shorted coil(s), plugged fuel filter, faulty fuel pump or a number of sensors. A plugged catalitic converter could also be the cause. If you can describe more details of the event I can help you locate the cause

Sometimes no acceleration with pedal after startup on 2004 f-150 3.4l

these are "fly by wire" meaning there is no throttle cable, its all electronically controlled. best thing would to be take it to a shop and let them use a scanner on it so you can see exactly where your fault lies.

check your transmission fluid level. It could be as easy a fix as that unless you have done damage to it by running it so hard empty. Sounds like that could be your problem. good luck.

Sluggish acceleration traction light comes on

this must be a 2.3 miller cycle. it is going into "limp home" mode. when this happens, it wont rev over about 3k, and tcs off/tcs lites come on. it feels a lot like fuel cut. probably the check engine lite is also on, and what codes are stored? most common is P1525/26 and 1540, which are the solenoids that control the abv. the abv controls boost, and when this valve is not working proplerly, the pcm stops communication with tcm, and it goes limp home. if you can locate the solenoids, they are on the back of the engine, right next to the egr valve. from right to left, you need to look at the second and forth. you need to ohm them when they are hot. normal is around 26. if they are over 30, or 0, they are bad. there are other possibilities, but this is most common

Engine shakes and can not accelerate as quick when starts

If the engine light is on, a code scanner needs to be connected to it to find out why the light is on. It could be one of the sensors causing it. Take to autozone or advanced auto if there is one near you, if not call a repair shop that can do it. Autozone and advanced don't charge. Takes about 30 seconds.
