A common fault with the Mazda BT-50 / Ford Ranger is the ECM. The glowplug light and engine light won't come on. But if you cycle the key many times and those lights come on, the engine will start. In that case, the fault is most likely the engine ECU. The repair is worth approximately $1,200
the light is flashing to alert u to the fact that a fault has occured in the transmission, the common cause is slipping, you may not even feel this, but to confirm where the problem is the system must be tested for fault codes.
I had the same Problem on My Mazda 6 Sport. If you turn the lights off then back on the light comes back on.The main dealer eventually changed the headlight, after being instructed by Mazda that there was a common fault within the sealed unit.
My advise is to take it back to the dealer, and tell them mazda have nbeen changing them under warranty.
