No under car work involved - this operation can be done from above - hard on back -- water pump is located inside timing cover - runs of timing belt

Testimonial: "Very helpful. Had no idea of location of pump. Thanks this just saved me a lot of time in sub zero temps."

2012 CHRYSLER 200 TOURING MISSING AND NOT OPERABLE AFTER WATER PUMP CHANGED?

Well I edited the post a bit and corrected spelling, and I have read it 6 times. I see a lot of stuff that isn't relevant and still wondering why you are waiting with a radiator cap in your hand :>)

So you had a lot of coolant leaks, you have them fixed and you were worried about the water pump, so you told them "while you have the car up on the hoist for the wheel bearings, change the pump please". They did that, they lost a fixing bolt, but they found another. Now the car misfires.

Well the water pump and the coolant system don't affect how the engine runs. The only thing I can think of is that when they changed the water pump they disconnected some wires that were in the way of the pump. Maybe the Crankshaft Position Sensor is down there and wasn't connected firmly.

Shops shouldn't be charging $280 for plugging in a scan tool, my tire guy does it for nothing, having said that, the Lexus Dealership charged my $238 for a $40 plain wheel bearing!

The water pump is not easy to get to

Just seeing where the CPS is

2002 dodge intrepid. where is the water pump located

The first thing EVERYONE needs to do is BUY THE BOOK for your car. Haynes makes good ones. I am a single mom and replaced a valve in my 84 Chevy Celebrity and most recently replace a water pump in my 2002 Intrepid using the book. If you have to ask where something is on your motor you have no business even looking under the hood. BUY THE BOOK so you can at least be familiar with your car so when a mechanic starts rattling of his mechanic mumbo jumbo you can look it up and maybe even do it yourself!!

Odd 2001 Dodge Intrepid symptoms

You either have a thermostat or water pump problem. car is getting hot. Check to make sure you have no water leaks on the hoses or radiator. to check the thermostat, run the engine for awhile to get it hot and touch the upper radiator hose to see if it is hot . If so then the thermostat is working and the problem would be the water pump. hope this will help you.

HOW TO CHANGE WATERPUMP 1999 INTREPID 2.7

    Prepare the Dodge Intrepid
  1. Step 1 Lay out a drop cloth underneath the Dodge2_bing.gif Intrepid to protect the floor from coolant spills. Designate an area to lay out each part alongside its bolts and connecting hoses and wires. Use a drop cloth here as well, some of the parts will have traces of grease and coolant.
  2. Step 2 Disconnect the negative battery cable, using a screwdriver to unscrew the clamp that secures the cable to the negative (-) post. Pull the cable away from the battery post.
  3. Step 3 Use a jack to elevate the Dodge Intrepid and jack stands to shore up the jack. Release the pressure in the radiator by removing the cap. Take out the drain plug located underneath the radiator. Catch the coolant in a resealable container
  4. Step 4 Use a grease pencil to mark on the timing belt2_bing.gif its position in each pulley before removal. This will save time when reinstalling. If needed, replace the timing belt and skip marking the old one.
    Remove the Damaged Pump
  5. Step 1 Locate the water pump on the Dodge Intrepid. It's mounted on the front of the engine block and connected to the radiator and various other parts through a series of hoses. It's rotated by the timing belt. Study these parts, as you'll have to remove them.
  6. Step 2 Disconnect or remove the parts in front of the water pump, using an adjustable wrench. In the most common Dodge Intrepid engine--the 2.7L--you'll find, in order: the upper radiator crossmember, fan module, accessory drive belts, crankshaft damper, timing cover, timing chain and guide wires.
  7. Step 3 Unbolt the water pump from the engine block, using an adjustable wrench. You may have to use a chisel to gently break the seal between the mount and the pump. Discard both the pump and the bolts.
  8. Step 4 Clean off the mounting area with a shop rag.
    Install the New Pump
  9. Step 1 Inspect the new water pump to ensure it's identical to the old pump and free of any metal splinters or debris.
  10. Step 2 Arrange the new water pump on the mount. You won't need sealant for the o-ring on a Dodge Intrepid. Hold the water pump and o-ring in place as you secure it with the new bolts. Tighten them with a torque wrench to 105 inch pounds torque in any order.
  11. Step 3 Install the timing belt and wires, using the grease pencil marks to guide you in installation. Install the rest of the parts in the order removed. The camshaft must be reconnected with a torque wrench at 125 foot pounds torque.
  12. Step 4 Replace the radiator's drain plug and refill the radiator with the amount and type of coolant specified in your owner's manual. Release the jack and jack stands.
  13. Step 5 Attach the negative battery cable to the post and tighten the screw on the clamp. Crank the Dodge Intrepid's engine and check for leaks. Then, close the hood.

My hood release cable on my 95 intrepid broke just wondering were is the release locaded so i can open my hood and hows an easy way to fix that.

Usually the handle breaks off the cable, you should be able to use some vise grips to grab a hold of the cable and pull it to open the hood. To repair it the cable assembly will have to be replaced. If not you will have to gain access to the latch which is located in the front center of the hood and using a screw driver or something similar push the lever to release the latch.

Changing water pump mazda mpv 2000 lx

Whatever you do, do NOT bring it to the dealer as most dealers will charge upwards of $650 for what I did in about 2 hours of work in my driveway with a 10 mm wrench and a gasket scraper.

I am not sure how technical an answer you need but basically it is as easy as removing the serpentine belt (a picture of the routing is located under the hood for future reference), loosening the bolts that hold the pump into the housing, carefully removing the remainder of the gasket (I recommend buying a gasket tool which will prevent gouging the housing while removing the gasket) placing the new gasket on the new water pump and bolting the new pump on. Route the serpentine belt and check the top off the antifreeze. Start the engine and check for leaks.

My part (which was ridiculously simple, just a pulley, bearing and PLASTIC 'impeller') cost was $60 and I was refunded $10 when I brought the bad one in.

Gas smell in car

There is a recall on the fuel rail for your vehicle. In my case I had 2 leaking fuel injectors. The intake manifold needs to come off, but it pretty easy to change the o-rings on the leaking injectors. Costs is about $25 for the new o-ring and about 2 hours of your time.
