The attached hub and bearing when installed keeps everything together. After removing all items from the axle outer end the inner shaft is locked in by a c ring. It simply snaps in and the same upon removing the shaft. The c ring will stay on the shaft when taking the axle shaft out

How do I replace my inner axle on the passenger side of my 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4 4.7L. I lent my truck out and the C clip let go of the CV axle. The intermediate axle spline is stripped and I need to change...

Lift and support front end on suitable jack stands preferably on frame. Remove right front cv axle, stub shaft, and seal. You will need to pull the right front brake caliper assembly loose and place to the side. Then remove bolts from shock and upper control arm and hub nut to do this. Next, remove axle lock actuator on passenger side of front axle. Place a drain pan underneath front diff cover and remove cover and drain axle. In the center of differential there will be an 8 mm head bolt holding spider gear cross-shaft. Remove bolt and cross-shaft only! Push inner axle in until clip clears inside of passenger spider gear. Set clip aside and push/pull axle shaft straight out to passenger side.

4wheeldrive wil not engage

Manuel engagement uses a vacuum switch on transfer case that provides vacuum to the actuator next to the battery. Electric types a transfer case motor engages the front drive shaft and a electric axle shift actuator is used to engage the axle shaft on passenger side of differential

GET IT TO A MECHANIC!! Something is loose or about to collapse! Remember that vibration and noise can travel away from the source so get the mechanic to start in that corner.
You need to get the following checked!
-Prop shaft mountings at transfer box.
-Prop shaft mountings at differential.
-Prop shaft bearings.
-Differential condition and oil level.
-Drive shafts at differential end.
-Drive shafts at the wheel end.
-All flexing joints in the system including UV joints and CV joints.

How do you get the front driveshaft out of 2001 chevy 4X4

Remove transfer case shield. Remove clamp on boot
where front drive shaft meets transfer case. use a flat
screwdriver to pry free end up and release clamp. (you need a special clamp tool to reinstall clamp )
Remove 4 bolts at differential end that hold U joint Retainers to yoke. Slide drive shaft to rear enough to clear yoke. then let drive shaft drop so it clears differential and slide forward until it come off transfer case shaft.

Where do you put the fluid in the rear differential of a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee?

If there is not a plug on the back cover then there is a plug on either the drivers side or passenger side just behind where the drive shaft attaches. Make sure you put enough in it or until it starts to overflow out of the fill hole.

I have a 2002 and front rear isnt working. transfer case shifts fine. front drive shaft turnes but front wheels dont. is front rearend rebuildable

check the front axle actuator. make sure it is getting signal to actuate, but these actuators are notorious for problems. most likely the actuator is bad. it is on passenger side of differential/axle housing. plastic cylinder with wires.

My front differential is leaking!

I cannot see it, but I am guessing that you need to replace your axle seal. To do this, you have to pull your CV shaft out. Remove the tire, remove the caliper from the top of the rotor. Using a hammer on the back, remove the rotor. Take off the spindle (axle) nut, separate the axle (CV shaft) from the hub. Replace seal. It should pop right out. Good luck!
