89 Wrangler windshield wiper control arm / blinker arm broken off. I can stick the stub end of the arm back in the hole and make the blinkers work but not the wipers. How does this arm control the wipers? Does the arm stub need to be pressed into the hole? It looks like it slips inside...round stub / round hole. Do I need to replace the whole thing?

SOURCE: 1998 Jeep Wrangler Electrical Short in Steering Column?

I had a similar problem with my 2000 Jeep TJ and I found the problem in the wiring harness under the hood.several wires were corroded and almost burnt off.If you remove the black tape which keeps the harness bundled together and if you see evidence of "green" type powder or "gook" it's most likely where the wires have faulted.

SOURCE: Wipers come on when blinker is turned on and won't go off

Motherboard?

I think it's a problem with the wiring harness. Probably have a short somewhere.
In reality, things like this, with american cars, it's pretty normal.

I had a ford taurus once.... it was full of electrical and mechanical faults.

Consult a dealership, they could do some troubleshooting.

SOURCE: Windshield Wipers dont work and can be moved freely by hand

sounds like wipers arm is not securely attached to shaft that is attached to wiper motors. They can strip out and you can either us JB weld to put them on or get new ones or junk yard ones.

1993 olds cutlass ciera Where is the wiper switch is it the control that is with the cruise and blinker coming out of the stering column?

  • Yes it is. Starting at the very left end of that arm is your cruise control adjustment. The next thing down is your wiper adjustment. You turn it one way or the other to adjust the speed of your wipers. If you keep going all the way down (to the right) to the end of that arm there is a little tab sticking up. Pushing that will spray the washer fluid on the windshield for you.

Windshield wipers don't work. Not the fuse. Also my blinkers don't work. Had to take out fuse. If let in driver side blinker stays on. Arm does not do anything

Hi,

Start with the easy stuff. Since you've already ruled out fuses, both issues sound like bad relays. The blinker relay is usually in the fuse panel and cheap to replace.

The wiper relay if I'm not mistaken is in the switch assembly on the steering column. This is a little more expensive because you have to replace the whole switch assembly.

Good luck!

I recently bought an 89 honda accord. At first, the blinker worked and the windshield wipers didn't and then all of a sudden the blinker stopped working and the windshield wipers started. They haven't...

I assume they're activated by the same lever? You'll need to (or have someone do it for you) remove steering wheel to access switch. It could be as simple as a loose cable/connection or a shorted switch itself. You won't know until you get into to inspect it.

Wiper problems on a saturn SL1

If the driver's side is working OK then most likely your problem lies with the attachment of the passenger side arm to the transmission. The transmission is the linkage between the wiper motor and the wiper arms. Often the female or socket part of the arm has become stripped due to turning the wipers on whilst they are ice/snow stuck to the windshield. Remove the cap at the base of the arm, often this is already gone. Get a socket wrench and remove the nut which is exposed. Now gently pry the entire arm up and away from the splined stub sticking out, maybe some liquid wrench or WD40 could help here. Do NOT pry against the windshield. Take your removed wiper arm to a salvage or junk yard and have them sell you another just like it but making sure the inside of the stub socket is not already stripped smooth too. Put it on in the reverse order, firmly tightening the nut.

Windshield wipers stopped working on 1993 jeep cherokee

Did you plug them all back in? lol j/p

Do your blinkers and your back windshield wipers work? It's either electrical or mechanical. Turn them on and poke around to see if you hear the motor doing anything. If you hear it, it's probably a broken linkage. If not, start with the fuses and work from there.

It's possible that by unplugging the battery and then plugging it back it, the fuse for the wipers received an electrical surge, blowing it. Consult your manual to see where the fuse for your model is and check to see if it's blown.

1992 Buick Regal: wipers not working properly

As far as the windshield wipers go sounds like theres a bad connection in the arm that controls your blinker and wipers you might try replacing that.
I had the same problem in my 93 linc.
