Assuming you have the Northstar engine....

The thermostat in the northstar engine is located at the bottom radiator hose (unlike most conventional cooling systems), the hose connects into the housing where you will also find the water pump.
Remove the hose from the housing, then remove the two bolts on the flange, the thermostat can then be pulled out.
Take note of the orientation of the thermostat as you remove it.
Don't forget the new gasket when you install your new stat.

Hi their, here's a link on replacing your thermostat,it doesn't really show it we'll,just follow the top hose from the radiator, that's where the thermostat is,easy to install. You don't need to drain all of the coolant, just a third would do,be careful cause the coolant could kill your pet if they were to drink it. Sounds like you have a clogged radiator, i would recommend trying to flush it out before replacing it.

Where is the thermostat on a 1999 cadillac deville

I think you are having a 4.9L Cadillac. If so please follow the upper radiator to the engine. This would lead to the thermostat housing which holds the thermostat.

Where is the themostat on 2000 cadillac deville

hi. On a 4.9L follow the upper radiator back to the engine. This should be the thermostat housing. The thermostat should be inside.
On a 4.6L the thermostate is in the housing which is near the water pump drivebelts "on the coolant crossover housing". If this is not clean I recommend you buy the Haynes for your DeVille. See page 3-4, illustration 3.14.
