If its a crate engine it's most likley the same 350 5.7 engine and everything should be the same if the problem happend after the cat was replaced i would take it to another shop to make sure the job was done corectly also make sure thet if there was an o2 sensor in the cat or next to the cat that it is still plugged in or there at all

On the chevy small block v8 the numbers will be on the left side of the engine look for a small step right at the head / block mating area. The numbers will be in the form of a ser# get that number and call a good chevy dealer and they can tell what engine you got. But any small block chevy crate engine will be a 350 or a 305. they will act the same as far as tune up and any vacuum hoses to the carb or trans. They interchange of a sort.

My 86 chevy k5 blazer with carburated engine will crank but not start

As with any no-start situation, you would need to know if the plugs are getting spark and if the carb is spraying fuel into the intake.

Have a 1996 chevy blasser,,. just bought it,, got it home and won't start,, trys to but nothing,, had the battery tested,, good,.. guy i bought it from say they changed the fuel filter,...

If it cranks but won't start you need to check the fuel pressure. It is very easy to do but you will need the proper gauge to do it. You may be able to rent it from a parts store. You may have a bad or weak pump. Also 4.3 liters are nototious for having cap and rotor issues. Also inspect the coil wire for rubbed spots or evidence of arcing.

I just bought a purge solenoid for my 2000 chevy blazer 2wheel drive 4.3 liter V-6, and I can't figure out where the thing goes under the hood?

It is on the rear left side of the intake (when facing the engine) - Find the EVAP service port and follow the hose to it.
