Exhaust heatsheild on 2009 Cadillac SRX weld broke causing rattle. Warante service was performed at Cadillac Dealer and service invoice indicated, ''Align & Resecure Heat Sheild.'' I went under car at home and discovered that not only the right side heatsheild that had the broken weld missing, but the left side heatshield was also missing. I phoned the service advisor and was told GM advised dealer to remove heat shields as dealer did not have proper Mig Welding equipment to re-weld broken weld. Exhaust pipes are within 2'' of transmission pan where gasket seals pan to case. Can this be a problem? Is this actually GM's recommended fix?

No its not and will cause a problem in the long run. The dealer should have sent the repair out to a local muffler shop for welding. Go back to dealer and make them do it, or tell them you are going to call the local GM zone manager!

Cannot find oil plug to change oil on cadillac srx all wheel drive 2011

The plug is a 15mm bolt. It is positioned on the corner point on the rear passenger side of the oil pan. The exhaust has a bend at that position so a ring spanner will be easier than a socket. have a look at the video link so you know what your looking for.

How to change a csmshsft sensor on a 2008 cadillac srx

Before you replace a part you may or may not need . Why ? What code ? Does the vehicle run ? There has been a lot of confusion on these vehicles with variable valve timing , mixing up cam sensors with camshaft actuators

DTC P0009: Engine Position System Performance Bank 2
The presence of DTCs P0008 and P0009 along with P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 indicates a possible condition with the primary timing chain and the alignment between both intermediate sprockets and the crankshaft. Or, the crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center (TDC).

?€¢
Observe the scan tool CMP Desired, Actual, and Angle Variance parameters before a DTC sets. This may help to isolate whether a condition is specific to one camshaft, one bank, or caused by a condition with the primary crankshaft timing.

I'm sorry but when dealing with these problems your best bet is to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop , I have never see a DIY'ER correct the problem with these , an in the end always end up taking it to the dealer .

My Cady has developed a rattling noise under that increases when I accelated

A common cause for the "rattling" noise you've described is a loose heat shield for the catalytic converter. Many times, a weld will break loose leaving you with a hanging heat shield that vibrates and "rattles" while you drive. A trip to the muffler shop should be able to confirm this. By itself, a loose heat shield is not something major.

Another cause could be a loose exhaust hanger that holds the exhaust firmly in place. It too would tend to rattle more as you drive. Either way, it would appear on the surface that your issue is exhaust related. Best of luck and thank you for using Fixya!

I was just told that on my 2005 cadillac SRX that my left front speed tensioner is bad, and the left side motor mount is broke. I bought the vehicle 10 mos ago with 55k on it and it has 60 now. I was told...

That [ I've never heard it called a tensioner ] is the ABS brake sensor on that wheel. It's hard to tell about the mount, but it's very rare to have one go with out it being in a major accident- [ but it can happen ].

I am getting a rattling noise from under the vehicle. It is worse when idling and disappears at higher rpms.

sounds like a bad converter. take a mallet and hit exhaust from front to rear until you find the rattle.
