Resetting the airbag light on your Chevy Silverado should be easy to do. Follow this video to watch it being done in a Chevy Silverado. To start with, you will:
Put the key into the ignition
Turn the key to the "on" position
Wait for the airbag light to turn on
Wait to continue until the airbag light turns off (around seven seconds)
Repeat the same steps twice more
Turn on your engine
After you take these steps, your airbag light should turn off. If it doesn't do so, then you should consider taking your vehicle in for diagnostic testing.
If the airbag light remains on, it could mean that something in the system is faulty. That could mean the airbag, the computer wiring, or another issue. Oftentimes, when the airbag light comes on unexpectedly, it is because of interference with the switch. Feb 12, 2021
depending on which one it is, pass or driver seat, its within the female reciever of seatbelt. easier to remove seat and inspect wiring to pretentioner. check for open by unplugging it and check across connector w olhm meter. if no reading, its open and needs replacd. unhook your battery before attempting this.
YOUR VEHICLE HAS DETECTED A FAULT IN THE AIRBAG CIRCUIT IT WILL HAVE TO HAVE CODE RETRIEVAL DONE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSE LIGHT TO STAY ON,I URGE YOU TO DO THIS SOON AS WHEN AN AIRBAG SYSTEM HAS GIVEN A FAULT CODE AND TURNED ON THE LIGHT THE SYSTEM IS DIABLED AND WILL NOT PROVIDE PROTECTION IN ACCIDENT
Start by disconnecting you negative battery cable.
Wait at least 1 minute to disable your airbag system.
Remove the airbag from the steering wheel, it's retained by a couple bolts on the back of the steering wheel.
Disconnect the wires to it, and set it aside.
Remove the clip that is above the lock nut for the steering wheel, then remove the lock nut.
You need a steering wheel puller to pull the steering wheel off. After you remove the steering wheel, you should have access to the turn signal switch.
the most common cause of this light is an open circuit in the coiled ribbon contact to the steering wheel airbag, it is under the steering wheel, it looks like a clock-spring and it always the steering wheel to move while maintaining a physical electrical connection to the airbag module on the steering wheel, after thousands of times of coiling and un-coiling it breaks and then the airbag diagnostic monitor senses the open electrical circuit and turns the light on. U must disarm the airbag to remove the steering wheel to replace this contact, if this is not done the airbag can fire and cause serious injury.
