1996 dakota, 318 engine, auto trans. while accelerating it bogs down and sometimes backfires. after driving for a bit, if you come to a stop it just shuts off. I unplugged all sensors at throttlebody 1 at a time while runing. The idle air control was the only sensor that seemed unaffected by this. the rest changed my idle. could this sensor be my problem?

You didnt mention if the check engine light is on, make sure there are no bare or damaged wires anywhere in the electrical system, also make sure the ground wire on the back of the engine to the body is connected. if that is all ok then its the hall effect sensor in the distributor. Simple fix about 30 minutes.
Good luck dont forget to rate.

96 Jimmy bogs down when I accelerate hard

Sounds like the fuel filter is getting clogged. It will flow enough fuel for normal driving, but can't supply fuel for full throttle acceleration, causing the engine to bog down. Replacing the fuel filter with a new one should fix the problem.

1996 Volvo 960 has shifting problem. Took to Trans shop and they think something is wrong with motor. When shifting from 1 to 2 it seems like the tranny is slipping or dropping down then back up quick...

Check the catalytic converter. You can do this by banging on it and listen for a rattle. Sometimes, the inside gets melted into a little ball and blocks the exhaust from getting out on acceleration. This will cause a serious loss of power and feel like a trans malfunction.

1996 dakota 2wd with 318 engine. i drive it every day, however, sometimes it stalls when coming to a stop, runs kinda rough (missing?) when accelerating. If i floor it, it runs GREAT. what could this be?...

it could be fuel or you could have a vacuum leak. check your fuel pressure regulator on your fuel rail and see if you have the right amount of pressure also check your map sensor the vacuum line tends to crack

1996 Dadge Dakota No Power

Check your air intake hose. If there is a hole after the air intake sensor, the engine computer will not recognize the need for more gas, because the inflow of air does not require it. Therefore the engine will be starved for gas. If this is the case, duck tape will solve the problem.
