Most likely the heat shield on the Catalytic converter has rusted off some of the heat shields mounts go underneath the truck and see if you can wiggle the heat shield, if it does thats your problem, This if it's a tinny sounding rattle. If it is a different sound please describe as best you can a deep rattle in the front or rear because anything could rattle like a fender or transmission converter cover. Hope this helps and give me some more information so I can help.

Sounds like you have something loose first track were the noise is coming from and inspect the area for loose componets if it is coming from your motor then you might need a mechanic to check it out could be something loose in there

I believe it is coming from the heat shield strapped around the muffler. I was told GM has a kit to correct this???

Rattling noise sportage 2008

Sorry for the late reply but, no, it is not related to a loose heat shield. It is a louder rattling sound more like a loose bearing vibrating inside either the transmission or the clutch assembly. Only between 1600 and 1900 rpm. and it is not present under ou over these rpm. The rattle desappear when I lock the 4X4. Dealer is out of solution!!

you are labouring the engine too much for the engine power ,you must keep teh RPM up it is a diesel and they will not develop power like a petrol engine at low RPM ,always pull away in first gear anyway or you will burn the clutch out in no time

This sounds like a bad pulley, maybe bearings in the waterpump or alternator, you will need to remove belt and spin each pulley to locate and also check for a loose pulley.
