What should you do if you are not sure if the right oil dipstick is being used? We are unable to get read on oil level & not sure if it is because the wrong stick is being used or if there is no oil. Oil change companies will not change oil because they are saying the wrong stick is being used which could distort oil level & possible over flow of oil could occur & create engine damage. Can we add oil to obtain a read & then proceed with oil change?
I would drain the oil completely out, and change the filter. Call your local parts store and find out how many quarts the engine calls for. Put your new filter on and fill with the amount of oil the book calls for. See what the reading is on the oil stick. If it's not reading full, then you have the wrong stick. Most of the time you will know when the oil is that low, you will start hearing valves ticking and even more engine damage can occur. So my guess is someone put the wrong stick in, but check it yourself with what the book calls for..
Find out how much oil the engine and filter change takes, Drain the oil, change the filter, add the specified amount of oil, warm up engine, let the Rodeo sit for 5 minuets put dip stick in, look at where oil is on dipstick.
Ask around for a small independent garage to help you if you can not do it your self.
Drain all of your oil and replace with approximately 4.3 litres of oil then check your dipstick then you will know. almost all vehicles hold that much at full.
