My Hyundai Sonata GLS, 4 door sedan, with 2.5 Liter 6 cyl. engine, 81,000 miles,
VIN KMHWF35V8YA297292 , never was recalled for the Air Bag system fault. The Air Bag indicator light is now on at 80,000 miles. Where can I get an electrical/mechanical system diagram for this system to try to troubleshoot on my own?
You cannot, First thing you need to do is get the codes using a diagnostic scanner that is able to access the airbag module. Your basic code reader will not do this. The code will tell you what airbag has an issue. If your a smoker in the car most likley the ASH destroyed the clockspring under the steeing wheel.
Testimonial: "Never knew there is a clock spring in the airbag system. "
they call it a clockspring because the horn pad has has to rotate. The air bag is in the steering wheel. No wires are used.
Eiter way you need the code to proceed. This 99% of the time will not be computer issue so stay away from it or you will cause more harm than good if you choose to take a short cut in order to save money.

My car owner's manual shows that the airbag module is either under one of the seats or in the center console. Where exactly is the airbag module?
