I cant find the lever to open my bonnet .its not under the steering column where the manual says it is. we recently had dual controls fitted, is there another way to open the bonnet? Its a peugeot 1007.

The hood release is a red lever under the dashboard about shin height. I found the image on a Haynes online manual -

What trans? AOD? This is 1992 F Series, all I have.

Shift Controls, Automatic Transmission The transmission shift control linkage or cable transfers the transmission operating mode from the selector lever to the transmission. The indicated transmission position on the steering column is transferred to a shift lever on the bottom of the steering column. On vehicles equipped with cable-operated shift systems, the indicated position of the transmission selector lever is transferred to the transmission through the shift cane, then to the cable, and down to the transmission manual shift lever at the transmission. On vehicles equipped with shift rod assemblies, the rod transfers the indicated transmission selector level position through a bell crank assembly to a control rod. The control rod transfers the indicated position to the transmission assembly.

Automatic Transmission Manual Linkage Adjustments

1. With the engine stopped and the parking brake applied, place the transmission selector lever at the steering column in the D (DRIVE position) for C6 applications and in the (D) (OVERDRIVE position) for AOD and E4OD applications, and hold against the D or (D) stop by applying a three-pound force to the selector lever knob.

1. Loosen the shift rod adjusting nut at point A. Refer to the following illustrations.

1. Shift the manual lever at the transmission into the (D) (overdrive) position for E4OD, by moving the lever all the way rearward, then forward two detents.

1. With the selector lever and transmission manual lever in the(D) position, tighten the nut at point A to 17-24 Nm (12-18 ft-lb) torque. Use care to prevent motion between the stud and rod.

1. Remove the three-pound force from the steering column selector lever knob.

1. Operate the shift lever in all positions to make certain that the manual lever at the transmission is in full detent in all gear ranges. Re-adjust the linkage if required.

1. On F-Super Duty Chassis Cab and Motorhome and Commercial Chassis recheck for correct operation of the automatic transmission selector indicator (PRN(D)21). Refer to Section 11-04A, Steering Column, Shift Rod Within Tube. CAUTION: Under no circumstances will it be permissible to adjust linkage in any position other than the(D) position for E4OD applications.

Automatic Transmission Shift Cable Adjustment

1. From inside the vehicle, place the column shift select lever in the DRIVE position (C6) of the OVERDRIVE (AOD and E4OD). Hang a three-pound weight on the selector lever.

1. Raise vehicle on a hoist.

1. Remove the shift cable from the transmission lever ball stud.

1. Pull down the lock tab on the shift cable body.

1. Position the transmission shift lever in the DRIVE position (C6) or the OVERDRIVE position (AOD and E4OD). This is three detents from the front-most lever position with the first position counting as one.

1. Connect the cable end fitting to the transmission lever ball stud.

1. Push up on the lock tab to lock the cable in the correctly adjusted position.

1. Lower vehicle down from hoist and remove the three-pound weight from the column shift select lever.

1. After making the adjustment, check for park engagement. Check the transmission control lever in all detent positions with the engine running to make sure correct detent/transmission actions. Readjust if necessary.

get assistant to push down on bonnet whilst you pull the lever ,then once you pull back the lever and hold it back they try to lift it so it clicks up a bit then you open it by the safety catch

It sounds like the shift tube bushings are worn out. There are usually 2 u shaped clamps that have nylon bushings that hold the shift tube to the steering clumn. If loose, that throws off the shift position, could be btween 2 gears at once, and throws off the park - neutral safety switch. Fix that first.

your problem with the gear selector is in the item 25 these are 2 plastic bushings that wear out and cause the gear selector feels loose, you should also check the item 27 this item has one or two screws loose and cause the gear selector feels loose

Taurus And Sable - Removal And Installation

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
   CAUTION After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait for at least 1 minute for the SRS or air bag module to deplete its energy.


2. Place the front wheels in the straight-ahead position.
3. Lock the steering column.
4. Remove or disconnect the following:
   SRS bolt covers from both sides of the steering wheel SRS module-to-steering wheel bolts SRS module and disconnect the electrical connector Steering wheel bolt and discard it
5. Press the steering wheel from the steering column.
   Lower steering column shaft bolt 2 lower instrument panel cover-to-instrument panel screws and unsnap the lower cover from the instrument panel
6. Turn ignition switch to the RUN position
7. Insert a 1 / 8 in. (3mm) wire or pin punch in the lower steering column shroud hole, under the ignition switch; then, press on the pin while pulling out on the ignition switch lock cylinder and remove it from the steering column lock cylinder housing.
8. Remove or disconnect the following:
   3 steering column shroud screws and the shrouds Shift control selector lever boot Gearshift lever pin from the manual control lever and remove the lever Wiring connector at the bottom of the steering column and remove the wiring from the column, (if equipped with an overdrive lockout switch on the manual control lever) Electrical connectors Multi-function switch screws and move it aside Shift indicator cable from the shifter tube Shifter indicator-to-column adjustment cable screw Interlock cable and actuator (if equipped with a column shift) 4 steering column-to-instrument panel bracket nuts and steering column Push pins and the lower instrument cover from the instrument panel reinforcement (at the passenger-s side) Console finish panel
9. Under the steering column, 2 instrument panel brace screws, the courtesy lamp socket, the 2 Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC) screws and the instrument panel brace.
10. If not equipped with an Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC), disconnect the electrical connectors and the vacuum harness from the evaporator housing and the blower motor.
11. If equipped with an Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC), remove the sensor hose/elbow and disconnect the electrical harness connectors and the vacuum hose harness from the evaporator housing.
12. Insert the Radio Removing tools 415-001into the integrated control panel faceplate; then, push the tools in approximately 1 1 / 2 in. (38mm) to release the retaining clips. Spread the tools slightly and pull the integrated control panel from the instrument panel.
13. Remove or disconnect the following:
    Electrical connectors and the automatic temperature control sensor hose and elbow, if equipped 6 console center finish panel screws and the panel, (if equipped with a floor shift) 4 instrument panel finish panel screws and panel, located at the right side of the steering column, (if equipped with a column shift) Instrument cluster finish panel-to-instrument panel clips and pull the finish panel straight out 4 instrument cluster-to-instrument panel screws, the electrical connectors and the instrument cluster Upper finish panel (located at the top of the instrument panel) Light sensor amplifier connector, (if equipped with an autolamp) Instrument panel finish end panels on both sides of the instrument panel Front scuff plates and pull the door weatherstrip away from the instrument panel (on both sides of the instrument panel) 3 instrument panel-to-upper cowl top panel screws 2 screws at each end of the instrument panel Instrument panel electrical connectors and the parking brake switch Instrument panel
14. Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse
15. Remove or disconnect the following:
    WARNING Do not attempt to bend any part of the lever, for it is brittle and will break. Heater hoses from the heater core and plug the openings 4 air conditioning electronic blend door actuator-to-heater/air conditioning housing assembly screws and the actuator Metal cover, disengage the spring from the heater core cover and from the lever Gently, depress the locking ramp and remove the lever from the secondary air temperature control door end
16. Rotate the primary air conditioning air temperature control door shaft downward, swing the metal link counterclockwise and remove it from the pin.
17. Remove the 3 heater core cover-to-heater/air conditioning housing assembly screws, the cover and the seal.
18. Press on the heater core tubes and remove the heater core from the heater/air conditioning housing assembly.

to open your bonnet or hood theres a lever on your left front kick panel or just on that panel under the steering wheel,once the hood is released the outside hood release should be just under the hood near the rad support

Under the instrument panel just to the left of the steering wheel adjust lever there is a manual hood release cable.

You may have a loose shift linkage in the steering column. Remove the upper and lower plastic covers behind the steerong wheel (5 or 6 philips head) and see if you have any loose torx head or allen head screws. Ea
rlier models had this isue.

1. Position the shift linkage in PARK (P) position.

1. Tighten the shift cable nut.

1. Move the gearshift lever through the entire shifting range.

1. Verify that the engine will crank with the gearshift lever in PARK (P) or NEUTRAL (N) position.

1. Adjust the transmission range (TR) switch as necessary, refer to Section 307-01 .

The heater fan is located under the dash on the passenger side. In the 2001 Lumina you have to take out the 2 plugs holding the insulation in to remove the insulation. The heater fan is at the very front butting up against the firewall. Removing the front-most bolt is a real pain in the ****, so it might be easiest to remove that first and install it last.
