I had this exact problem, turned out to be a scorched engine ignition fuse, (in the panel by the door). The fuse wasn't blown, just scorched, replaced it and the car started immediately on the first try

My 98 dodge neon will not start., when i turn the key i can here the solenoid click but the car will not start, the battery tested good. and all ther fuses were fine also. do i need to change the starter.

Try finding someone to help ya on this procedure. While another person tries to start it, lightly hit the starter and see if it starts to work. If it does start working, then the starter is defective. If it dont start cranking over then check your battery cables for damage, lose or corrosion. Good luck.

I try to start my dodge neon 2002 and it makes a clacking or ticking noise but wont start

You probably have a bad or failing battery. Will it jump start and continue to run OK?

I have a Dodge Neon 2006 which was working fine

you may be right, try a spare key, that will elimanate the key chip, you will need a scan tool to diagnose this problem, also with key in crank position is there power at starter, the scan tool can tell yuo if computer is reading key chip signal and if signal if right and also you can see if starter is receiving start signal, good luck.

Starting

Have you checked the Alternator? If the Alternator isn't working, the battery isn't being charged by the car while it's running. Simple/cheap fix if that's the problem. Good luck.

1997 Dodge Neon. New battery. Ran fine for a couple of days now it wont start. All I get is a ''click''. Had starter tested and it was fine

If battery is good and fully charged and starter is good, possibly starter solenoid, if not on the starter. Also check battery cables, make sure that all 4 ends have good clean solid connections. Also cables themselves can get so corroded inside that the fix is to replace them. Good luck, please rate this. Thanks
