2001 BMW 320i air bag light is on for a while then goes off and then it returns back on why?

The automatic idle control valve senses engine temperature and allows an extra amount of air to bypass the throttle plate. The valve may need cleaning or the sensors may becoming faulty.

Battery went flat on my bmw e46 saloon 05 no power to my dash board cluster turn the key no lights on at all .the only one is air bag

usually its goes by itself after putting the right amount of air in the tire, It take sometimes 15 minutes after the car runs. Good luck

Looks like your going to have to bring it to a dealer. There isn't much you can do to repair an air bag fault on a BMW without using an oem level scan tool. Most Independent repair shops won't have the equipment needed to diagnose it. It could run into big money but usually air bag faults are either sensors or the clock spring in the steering column. In either case, keep in mind with the air bag light on the air bag system is disabled.

Try using an automotive dye in the oil the oil has to be going somewhere the dye should reveal the loose gasket or loose oil plug in which the leak may only occur at speed under pressure and not present when stopped

air bag lights comes on after about 65,000 mi. or so your computer will do so, so you can take it in to be checked, maybe its dettected some kind of a leack. My car did the same think I have a 02 325i

There must be a problem with the air bag system for the light to be on, if the system was o.k. the light would be off and have a stored code. You cannot reset this light with a generic obd2 scanner. You need to access the air bag system and read what codes it has stored. Good Luck.
