92 accord horn stopped working after going through
puddle after rain
If your fuse is not blown, then you'll want to test the horn voltage with a test light at the horn while the horn switch is being pressed.
I would suggest unplugging the horn & just testing the wire for 12V + and if you have voltage there but the horn won't work when reconnected you'll have to replace the horn.
If the voltage is missing at the horn connection when you do the test, then it has to be either the fuse or the relay, and finally, the switch on the steering wheel. Wiring is a last consideration based upon the circumstance.
The owners manual will have the fuse & relay location.
It of course would be a coincidence for it to be anything but the horn & I do expect that the horn is bad or has a bad connection which you'll correct when you reconnect it after testing! good luck
OK, this is a completely different sceario: First, I still say, check fuses/connections anytime electrical isn't working, that's just the rule.
Beyond that, you're describing 2 things that generally operate on the same ciruit. The brake lights and the horn are usually made to work through the same fuse and/or fuseable link & you need to actually check your voltage before replacing the Brake light switch.
You are correct that the shift lock is probably not working due to not receiving power from the switch, check the other side of the switch also though as if it doesn't have power, then this issue is related.
Brake pedal pushed, 12V on both sides of the brake terminals on the switch, Pedal not applied, 12V on just one side.
Good Luck
Otherwise, Go back to the testing of the horn as previously outlined & you should find the problem.
Then you must have had voltage to the switch, & not to the other side of the switch. I'm hoping you've done everything on the list.
After this you are just going to have to troubleshoot the problem by going from the switch at the shifter, all the back through the wiring until you find the break in voltage. I don't have a wiring chart but that's about it. IF the fuse blows again, it's a short. You may need a new switch at the shifter. good luck
