I have a 1988 Chevy Silverado 4x4 2500 V8 305 motor. It bogs when you hit the gas and has a hard time getting up to speed, and only reaches around 45-50 mph.

maybe, check egr valve, clean throttle body clean or replace idle speed control motor.

sounds like its the timing is off

does the track have a carb or is it fuel injection?? sounds like it is flooding, maybe a stuck float in the carb...

ENGINE SURGING COULD BE WEAK FUEL PUMP, STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER,BAD TORQUE CONVERTER SOLENOID OR TORQUE CONVERTER. OR FAULTY TPS.

they might have not put the proper gap on the plugs..and might have over filled the engine with too much oil..

Start by checking to make sure that fuel delivery to the carburetor is good. The fuel pump might not be working well, or there could even be a problem with the fuel pickup tube in the gas tank.

this might sound crazy but your timing could be off....you may want to check that
