2007 Ford Edge, Blocked condensation drain

We live under oak trees and evidently some broken down leaves have worked their way through the cowl to block the a/c condensate drain. We're now getting water on the passenger floor board.
Can anyone tell me how to access the debris to clean it out from the blocked lines?

Praise be to God!! My ford edge had a blocked condensation drain. We found the drain hose on the driver side by the gas petal, Peal the carpet and you will see the hose, pull the black hose apart with a screw driver and attach a shop vac to the hose and it will unpluged and pull all the water out. Everyone kept telling us the wrong location.

Oh thank you so very much. You were certainly a God send. We were told to look different places but never on the drivers side. Even though this was first posted a year ago, it has still been a great help to us.

Thank You. This saved me about $200 by fixing this myself. I disconnected the drain hose by the gas pedal and blew out both directions with canned air. It now drains properly again. It collected over 180oz of water causing the blower motor to make sounds when turning left. You could hear all the water shifting when turning or going up steep slopes.

I had a similiar experience. I took off the drain hose and nothing came out. Finally I got my small compressor I use

I taped it to the hose and blew back toward the coil and fan housing. Water starts to come out immediately. Make sure you have a container or you will flood the interior of the car. Everything work perfectly.

The drain is located under the exaust shield on the drivers side all you have to do is pull it back and blow it with a blowgun .just pull it back about 3 inches

Mustang water leaking on passenger side floor.

I have 2005 mustang and had the same problem 4 yrs after I bought my .Mustang when it was still under the warranty I took it to the dealer where I purchased vehicle. They charged me $150.00 to change the cabin air filter they said the old one was blocked with leaves and suggested not to park vehicle under trees which is kind of hard to do when I live on a street with a lot of trees. Everything was fine until 2 years later it started leaking in passenger side again.Pulled cabin air filter saw no leaves.Of course now warranty ran out .I went on a mustang web forum to find there were other people with same problem and not just a mustang problem there were other makes and models having same problems .One person fixed the problem. Here is the fix. Pop your hood look under where the cowl grill sits on the right and left side there is a rubber drain on each side( hard to see)so feel with your fingers check to see if they are blocked with dirt or leaves if so clean them so water can flow through them when it rains .That is what was causing water to come in on my passenger side right underneath the glove box in my mustang now every few months I check to see if they are blocked I have not had anymore problems with water coming in on passenger side . Sad thing is when i purchased my mustang i wish the dealer would have told me not to park my car under trees so i wouldn\'t have a water I would have thought twice about buying a car that you can\'t park under trees because I live in an area where there is a whole lot of trees. Thanks a lot Ford for designing such a crappy car !!!! Good luck I hope this fixes your water problem.

Ford Focus 2007 Drivers carpet wet. Water coming down bulkhead. Could there be a drain blocked in the bodywork If it has a drain where is it and what do I need to do to access it Thanks Dave

Carpet wet on passenger side is likely a plugged drain for the a/c evaporator. It should drain on the ground out a small, short rubber hose sticking out of bulkhead on pass side. Or a poorly seated grommet for the evaporator drain. Also check the rear washer hose if it goes through the cowl area to the back wiper.

Blower motor freezes up, what parts are supposed to be in place on the cowling to prevent moisture from entering the air box.

Air is brought in through the grills at the wiper blade arms, at the bottom of this cowling/ductwork there is a small drain hole with a small hose connected to the other side where moisture is to drain out before entering the system. It is usually blocked with tree leaves/needles or dirt and sand. Hope this helps

Sunroof blocked drains

the drain holes are located at each corner of the sun roof carrier. you will need to open the sun roof all the way to be able to see the drain holes. the drain pipes run down the A and C posts of the vehicle. [A post front] [C post rear]. the easiest way to clear them is to use a flexible piece of cable pushed down from the top. if they are not blocked, the pipes may be off on the under side of the sun roof carrier. this usually happens if somebody has been doing panel work on the vehicle and forget to reconnect pipes. to rectify this you will have to lower roof lining. pipes just push on.

Water on floorboard on passenger side I don't think it is from rain.

It could be that the condensation drain line is blocked and backing up into the car - but; it is more likely that your problem is a result of a poorly designed cowl cover over the blower fan for your air conditioner. this is a VERY common problem on 97-03 Grand Prix's as well as Malibu's and Impalas through '04. The other side effect of this is that water draining into the blower fan WILL cause it to fail eventually - this solution eliminates that risk.

Here is the cowl (pictures from an '04 Impala, FYI, but are identical):
d459ff7.jpg
You will need to remove it by pulling the retaining clips up - there is 1 on each end, and then one towards the top that has a slot in it. Be careful to not break these or lose them.

Remove the cowl, and underneath you will see the blower fan:

42f0c7e.jpg
Under the cowl you will see a rubber seal that is indicated by the arrow - this is the poorly designed "drip edge". You can either remove it - or leave it in place; the new diverter will accumulate any moisture captured by this seal and divert it properly.

Here is a picture of the part you need - which can be purchased from any GM dealership for about $4 - the GM part is #15794785. Most dealerships don't stock it - but they can order it for you.

1e4d9df.jpg
It simply sits in place as noted by the arrows - you'll notice there is a long extension from the left side of the part - this is the "finger gauge" - you want this to be positioned as far towards the left (as your facing the motor, or passenger side) of the vehicle as possible.
5cc4d0e.jpg
Here is a close-up of the gauge to give you perspective on how it should be positioned:

589f077.jpg
This is a shot of the drain area that the new diverter will use - instead of dumping water into the blower fan like the old design.

2ec9540.jpg
Now - for the cowl to fit over the new diverter - you will need to trim a couple of pieces of plastic from the bottom of the cowl - as indicated:

d051bff.jpg
You can simply use a utility knife and a pair of pliers to score and snap these pieces off.

b67ac22.jpg
65a56ed.jpg
What the underside of your cowl should look like after removing (lines indicate where plastic was removed)

19b73aa.jpg
No you can simply replace the cowl, and reinstall the retaining clips - and you are all done.

Hope this helps - be sure to rate it and comment! ;)

2003 pontiac montana leaks condensate water in the drivers floor

Bet the drain is clogged with leaves. Look under the blower motor under the hood. Can almost be that the cowling has been filled with leaves at one time or another. Got to clean that stuff out every now and then.
