Gas gauge might need ajustment or re-placed. Won't hurt to get it checked out. Don't want to get stuck some where with no gas. Hope this helps.

low fuel light on but still runs good but went that happens that fuel gauge reads empty than low fuel out fuel gauge reads ok whats my problem louis

you probably have a bad fuel level sensor in the fuel tank.you will have to remove the fuel tank to replace the sensor.the contacts on the sensor will break causing the fuel gauge to be inacurate.you can buy the sensor without having to buy the whole fuel pump assembly.

The reading for a good working float is 8 ohms when placed at the full mark

chevy and gmc trucks have an on going problem with this,turn the key on,and get a rubber mallot or a hammer and hit the bottom of the fuel tank a couple of times,this will unstick something in the fuel pump/sending unit.

It IS the sending unit. There's just no other explanation. If it gave you no reading or never changed then it could be other things but the other things it would be would keep you from getting any reading at all. The person who put the new one in either damaged the slide, which isn't hard to do, or didn't connect it right. Take it back to them and make them fix it OR the part could have been bad from the store. My friends at NAPA say as many as one in ten new parts aren't any good. If you used a used part then it might just be another worn out sending unit. I usually try very hard to not be so "matter of fact" but I can't come up with any scenario where your problem could be anything but the sending unit. If I end up being wrong, I'd love to know because I tried as hard as I could to blame something other than the s. unit. Am curious to see if I'm right. Best of luck!

look for a short in the sending wiring, empty means the circuit is closed, open circuit full

Fuel level sending units are known to go bad on these.

u need to change this gauge or try to dissasseble and clean it very well then try to install it back again

the fuel level sensor inside your gas tank might be defective
you need to drop the tank and check the level sensor
