Have same car same problem. feels like its starving for fuel upon heavy acceleration. Car is **** no fuel filter have to replace pump and strainer $700. Coil packs if ignition $200 each plus $40 for two wires a waist. Finally timing belt $35.00 and 6 hours labor and car still same problem. Just invest in gas can and matches brother.

Engine hesitates upon acceleration

Replace the jets in the carburetor with 2 sizes larger jets and the hesitation will disappear. FIRST though, look in the carb and open the throttle with your hand at the same time to see if fuel is being squirted into the venturi's, if not then you need to replace or adjust the squirter. This is what causes hesitation on acceleration.

Acceleration

check your fuel supply and or fuel filter condition/ check carburetor or fuel injection system if its ok then you must be having a problem with your electrical supply to the spark plugs thats why the engine hesitates...

My 2001 galant hesitates on acceleration. changes plugs oil air filter etc.. any thoughts?

a faulty tps sensor will cause hesitation on acceleration.also a loose or broken place in air duct to throttle body will cause hesitation.also clogged fuel injectors and fuel filter.to save money have car scanned.if you have a faulty tps.the scanner will tell you.

Hesitation on acceleration engine runs fine otherwise

My 99 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro was havinga problem starting at times. It would idle poor upon start and then it would come up in rpm where it should be. I had hesitation from a start and after coasting for more than 5-8 seconds, the car would shake violently upon acceleration at about 1/3 throttle. I cleaned the Mass Air Flow Sensor. This helped but did not solve all my problems. I then replaced the Mass Air Flor Sensor. Little to no change there ($108.00). Lastly, I replaced the spark plugs. I bought Bosch plugs ($4.82 ea.). This got rid of all the symptoms. I had bad lugs and possibily a dirty MAF!
