After clearing all im monitor codes and driving hundreds of miles doing numerous gm driving cycles the secondary air and evap monitors read not ready . i know the air pump works ;there are no blown fuses , i have vacuum from the solenoid valve and the relay is good .all other im monitors read ready or n.a.if i unplug the pcm will this have the same effect as rebooting a computter?
No this will not. Computer has a keep alive . Evap and a.i.r. run on different schedules then other monitors.Usually EVAP is gas tank related.Have some smoke system to see if there are any leaks. In NY you can pass with monitor not running for that year truck
Testimonial: "thank you for your reply it was helpful to know the pmc has to be kept alive."
Ok....look on passenger side, you are searching fro a fuse,MAXI,30 amp.Check to see if that is blown, running to the battery is going to make any motor spin. If that fuse is blown, repace air pump. That is why it codes back again. Circut not complete,
At this point, drive until monitor sets.If it faults out again, then you are going to have to get into wiriing harness, not somehting for the backyarder to tackle.Unless your an electrcian of course.More on that someother time.Good luck

if the pump was bad would the secondary monitor throw a code all mine does is read not ready.all o2 monitors read ready.when i unplugged pump and jumped it to battery pump ran fine.what really has me stumped is if there is a problem in the system why am i not getting a fault code instead all i am getting is not ready.the evap monitor reads not ready as well are these systems tied together in sequence or are they independent of each other ? thank you
thank you for your suggestion i checked both the 30amp maxi fuse and the 10amp mini fuse for continuity and both are good can you think of any other open circuit possibility? thanks again.
there are no fault codes. the air and and evap monitors both read not ready. i thought maybe a bad scan tool.but confirmed with another tool
ok i will.is the evap always last to come back to (ready)thank you.
i drove another 111miles did another 15 driving cycles in just the last 2 days i have drivin 226 miles and done 23 driving cycles.is there anything more i can do so the system proves out?thank you.
THEN U MUST DRIVE IT UNTIL THE SYSTEM PROVES OUT
what is the fault code here, you are not providing any useful info to help u here.
U have no idea about what u are doing here, if there is a problem in the secondary air injection the code will keep coming back, replace the secondary air injection pump.
How many miles do I need to drive inorder for my evap sensor to read ready
