Question about 2003 GMC Sierra

2 Answers

My 2003 GMAC guages are failing. It started with my odometer, then my Oil and now my engine temp guage. They all have failed months apart where the Odometer was the first. Just doesn't move. My oil guage was second, just max out to the far right. And now my temp guage recording max temperture when it isn't hot, it is stuck in this position even with the engine off and starting the car cold. Is this a whole assembly to replace or one at a time

I just bought a 1988 chevy k/1500 4-wd truck. the temp guae volt meter oil pressure guage in the cluster all worked the rest did not. I found a replacement at a local scrap yard. now the temp volt and oil...

first we will start will the fuel gauge most likely you are correct chevys and 1995 and older jeep wranglers had this problem the sending units failed very commonly. you could have possibly gotton another bad cluster but most likely the speed sensor has worn out. it has a plastic gear being turned by a metal gear and is located near the tail of the transmission. hope this helps

My brother has leant me his 1993 Ford fairmont EB11. A red light is flashing intermiitanly it looks like a fan in some kind of cylinder. Could someone tell me what it is?

  • Full instrumentation pack (four ancillary guages plus tachometer) - with volt meter & oil pressure guage.
  • Speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, fuel guage & water temperature guage standard in addition to the above.
  • WARNING LIGHTS: High beam, rear window demist on, turn signal / hazard light, alternator fail, lights on, park-brake on, washer fluid low, radiator coolant low, cruise control indicator and low oil pressure.
  • AUDIBLE WARNING CHIMES: low fuel, lights on, low alternator charge, low oil pressure, high coolant temperature and brake failure.
  • Trip Computer standard featuring fuel consumption figures, distance to empty, average speed & time display.
I found this site, no mention of the fan in a cylinder, but I'll let you figure it out. Hope this helps.

My 2003 Galant has a lound knocking noise when started on 50f and below freezing temps. It eventualy goes away after warming up to Normal running temp.

Sounds like in cold temperature there is a lack of oil to vital moving parts of engine. Try changing oil to a lighter weight for example 5w-30 or 10w-30. After doing this have oil pressure checked manually with a handheld guage and make sure there is good oil pressure in engine. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA.

I have a 1992 honda prelude that is running but the fuel and temp. guages are not working but all other ones are.

this may be 2 seperate problems, fuel guage issue may be the fuel guage sending unit, the temp guage may be a stuck open thermostat. Have the engine temp checked after driving at least 5 miles, does the gas guage ever move around even a little, if so it is the fuel gauge sending unit in the tank.
