You will have to give a little bit of time on this one. The over heating coming up through the vents, sounds like your heater core. Now the temp gauge not working may be a sending unit (which one I am not sure there is three of them). The sports light I have never heard of that before. Now the car stalling and not turning back on could be a few things like, clogged or catalitic converter, or crank shaft sensor just to name a couple. The speedometer working only part of the time is usually the speedometer gauge in the dash but if it don't work at all it's probably a snapped speedometer cable or even a loose one.

2000 F350 with 7.3 and automatic trans. The speedometer and odometer stopped working, the overdrive off light flashes, and the heater fan doesn't turn off with the key. All problems started today

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. The overdrive off light flashes is telling you that the transmission has a problem an code's are set in the transmission control module or PCM - engine computer . Speedometer an odometer not working could mean speed sensor is bad . Checking code's with a factory or professional scan tool is need . The heater fan not turning off is a seperate problem , relay stuck closed maybe . Is it running at high speed ?

Why did my speedometer stop working and within minutes my 02 Cadillac Sts stalled and would barely accelerate?

The speedometer and odometer gets a signal from the speed sensor in the side of the transmission where the speedo cable once was.
The problem could be the speed sensor, or something in the wiring, or in the instrument cluster. Or it could be that the transmission is failing internally.

Are you sure you replaced the speed sensor in the transmission ?
You could try unplugging the sensor to see if that affects the engine speed.
It sounds like you disconnected a vac hose or a wiring harness some where. A large vac leak would cause the engine to rev high and so could a wiring problem.

the port is probably under your steering wheel, like above where your feet and legs sit. you need an OBD1 (on board diagnostic) scanner. Some places do it free, some charge, or you can buy the cheaper one at auto zone for like 50 bucks. or the nice one for like 300. call around and see who will do it for free :)

Speedometer not working, high revs & won't shift out of low gear

Your issue is a bad "speed sensor". Your speedometer is controlled by a sensor in your transmission, and when it quits working your speedometer will not work, it can cause very irregular shift patterns and slipping. Replacing your speed sensor should resolve your issues.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
