Disco 2, 2002 model. Sudden lose of power and rpm not exceeding 3000. If idle the rpm goes to 3500. secondly, the rear suspension keeps on falling down after more than 5 minutes packing. What could be the problem.

If you keep the RPMS (tach) up to 3000 and above (DONT REDLINE YOU'LL BLOW YER MOTOR UP!) At 3000 RPM to 3500 -4000 RPM is where these motors posses what i figure is a power band that handles most inclines. Down shifting included. DRIVE SAFE

Only the rear suspension on the Disco 2 was air. The Disco 3 SE & HSE had air front and back.

check out the idle control valve first

Hello,well at what rpm it shifts at of course depends on how hard your pressing the accelerator at that moment,if you floor the accelerator it will shift at higher rpm (red line) but if you take off very slowly it should shift at a much lower rpm....but to answer your question 3000-3500 is a good shifting rpm( if the gauge red lines at 6000-6500 rpm) and firm shifting is a good thing,slow,sluggish and hesitant shifting is a sign of bad things to come from a tranny!! ps keep the engine oil,and transmission oil changed for long life out of your car engine and tranny. good luck and enjoy your new car......yz-maniac.

It may be caused by a vacuum leak, make sure to check all your hose for cracks and/or hoses that may have popped off

Have the machanic check the catalyst converter.

if the car is stock i would replace your oxygen sensor. you may also need to clean out the MAF sensor.

Does the RPM seem to bog down around 3000 - 3500? If so you have fuel delivery problem> Start with the filter.
