Truck WILL NOT idle at all. Cold, warm, hot,...anytime, if i take my foot off the pedal, it just quits. and this is in park....forget about putting it in gear. Getting gas okay. Sometimes hard to start, but will start, just won't idle. No high idle when start cold. Has been sitting for some time in back yard. 1989 Chevy Blazer, Silverado, Full Size, 350 engine, 4x4.

97 dodge caravan start and stall in morning, if warm up 5-10 minutes then no driving problem. if warm up not enough the van will lose idling and stall at stop sign or when my foot is leaving the gas pedal....

The choke function is not working on a cold engine.
1 clean throttle body and IAC motor air pathways.
2. Check for engine codes, you are looking for a code that relatws to the wngine temperature sensor.

What this sounds like is the throttle position sensor, or TPS. When this sensor goes out, you will experience the high idle that will not taper down. The good news is that they are fairly inexpensive and easy to replace.

I have the same problem. When my dealer changed my coolant I now seem to have a stuck thermostat. They are denying they did it. I haven't changed the thermostat yet but that is the problem.

My car will not idle by itself...and to start it i have to put my foot on the gas pedal. i have to keep my foot on the pedal a little bit to keep it running by itself, but only for a little while....

There seems to be several issues. Can't say a lot about the gauges not working except that relays power groups of equipment functions and if a relay does not provide power then the gauges can't work.

For a fast idle, a sequence called the "cold start sequence" is suppose to increase idle. This is triggered by an engine temperature sensor. Some cars have 2 with one working the dash gauges and the other is used to work the engine controls. Yours is likely either sending a signal that the engine is hot (and it is not) or the signal is missing.

When the engine knows it is cold, the idle will speed up until the engine is warm.

The dim headlights can be dim from a power drain, or the engine is not idling fast enough to charge.

I have a 1997 gmc serria 1500 4x4 5.7l i replaced the iac motor and it still reves up high could it be the tps

When replacing the IAC it is a self learning item the computer will teach. You need to do this to fix this problem first since you DID replace it. Have the engine good and cold (not hot) let set three hours if warm. Now we are ready. Place the parking brake on. Start the engine. Put your foot firmly on the brake. Put the car in drive. You will not go anywhere for the next proceedure. I do hope you have a tachometer. You will need to rev the engine in gear between 1100 & 1299 RPM's and hold it there for 5 minutes. This is the proceedure to have the self learning codes from the switch to the vehicles computer stored. When your done this truck should idle at 800 rpm's
