  • Anonymous Feb 12, 2010

Thanks to goalie39 I tried spraying the door latches with WD-40 and it seems to be working. The running board has stopped going in and out, and the mirror lights have gone off.

    Thanks goalie39!

You probably have a bad door switch that is located in the door latch. If the vehicle tells you which door is ajar I would try a good penetrating oil first and if not replace that door latch. It will take a bit of working the latch before it will start to work if thats all it is so have some patients with it.

Question edited for clarity.

Question moved to model category.

Spray with 'Jigaloo anti-seal squeal' noise spray. Spray the door seal, the lock, the running board gaps and fixings. It is a remarkable dry silicone spray.

2003 lincoln navigator running board stay out on passanger side unless your are moving (they retract) passenger mirror does not adjust backig up message continues saying door ajar

The door switches are built in the latches on each of the doors, they are pron to sticking, leaving the security module to beleive the door is open.
The simple fix is to spray a generous amount of WD40 on, in, and around the door latches, then opening and closing the door a few times. I would start with the passenger door as`this is likely the culprit. do the rest of the latches as a prevenitive measure.

Hope this is of some help.

Passenger side running board

I had the same problem with my Excirsion. Turns out it was the plug just inside the body where the running board lights connect. If it gets dirty, it causes intermittent contact. If you haven't checked this, that would be my first action. I bet the Navigator has the same type of plug there as the Excursion.
