Open the lift gate. look on the side that you are taking off. there should be two phillips head screws holding on a small bracket. remove them. next gently pull on the tail light assembly. once loose unplug the wiring harness and you are done. installation is reverse of removal.

Usually the plug has a tab on the back end of the plug, where the wires go in. just push/ squeeze it down and pull the plug. some timesyou have to push the plug towards the coil/sensor, then squeeze and pull.

  1. Remove the headlamp bezel and retaining ring attaching screws. Remove the bezel and retaining ring.
  2. Pull the headlight out, disconnect the wire harness and remove the headlight from the vehicle.
  3. Install the headlight in the reverse order of removal.
Grand Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer Models
  1. Open the hood, reach into the engine compartment and locate the lock ring supporting the bulb assembly.
  2. Rotate the lock ring 1?8 turn counterclockwise and pull the bulb straight out from the housing. To install:
  3. Install a new bulb and position the bulb assembly in the lamp housing.
  4. Rotate the lock ring 1?8 turn clockwise to secure.

The Grand Cherokee will have an assembly that is fastened with bolts and screws to the body.
Get the new assembly and compare to the old one to see where to unfasten the bolts and other fasteners to aid in removing quickly.

How to remove and replace tail light assembly on 2003 jeep grand cherokee. There's one screw behind the rear quarter panel to complete the removal process of the tail light assembly. How do I remove that...

There is 2 screws located on the side when you open your tail gate by the tail light. remove these 2 screws and pull the tail light out and disconnect the wire connector. Hope this helps.
