While driving the check engine light came on, and almost immediately the pickup died. Tried to start it and when key was held in the on position nothing happened. Once the key was released the truck would start to cough and sputter. Pressing on the accelerator had not effect what so ever on speeding or slowing the coughing and/or sputtering. Is this a fuel filter problem/fuel pump problem? Or?

dont want to sound like a smart a$$ but the fuel tank u know it is full. If it is full the transferpump is the probible cause.

It's a sensor crazy world, but i'm guessing your problem is caused by something more simple. Spark plug wires, or a partially clogged fuel filter. If that doesn't solve it, check the EGR, and check for vacuum leaks . Broken , cracked or loose vacuum lines.

Its a fuel issue. First be sure you have gas. If you do then your fuel pump has lost it's prime. You either have a leak in a fuel line someplace or a bad fuel pump.
