There are two possibilities. First, and easiest to check, is for a bad battery. While the battery has enough power to sound the alarm, it is too little for all other function. There's a very good chance your battery is bad, especially in this cold weather season.
If the battery is absolutley determined to be good, then you have to reset the factory anti-theft system. On way is very easy and the other not so easy.
Try the easy way which is to lock and unlock the rear hatch door. If that doesn't work, you'll have to go to the difficult way.
The PURPLE/YELLOW factory disarm wire is in the harness to the drivers door, inside the drivers kick, in a black plug. Locate this wire splice into it with the same guage wire, then ground it to a solid chassis point.
This takes out the factory alarm for however long you keep this wire grounded. It is the only other way I know of to get around the factory alarm system
