Replaced starter twice in my 1999 Yukon and it starts up 2 to 5 times then I just get a click and the starter won't turn over no more even when I take it out of vehicle. I have 77K and just replaced the original starter.

Could be a problem with the anti-theft system, the neutral safety switch, the key switch, or the actual starter.
Will it crank in neutral instead of park ? Do you have power at the starter posts when the key is in the start position ?
Is the security light blinking ?
Sometimes new starters have to be shimmed so that the gear on the starter lines up with the gear teeth on the flywheel on the motor. The grinding noise is the reason I say that is what's wrong. If there were shims already there, try taking them out. I hope this helps you

check all your connections to your alternator,starter and your battery But you you are hearing the starter "click" but not engage..try tapping on the starter with a hammer if it is easy to get to..this some and sometimes does work..but your starter solenoid can be bad..the starter can be bad..igntion module a number of possibilities..goto your local parts store or public library and purchase a repair manual or check one out at the library
