Car shifts hard (up & down), especially shifting to reverse.

I have an automatic '92 honda accord dx with 300,000 miles. It shifts hard (up & down), especially when shifting to reverse. The whole car jolts hard. Trans fluid is fine. Sometimes there's a delayed reaction when shifting into gear.

That delayed reaction may be the transmission slipping. with those many miles it could be the transmission going bad

Transmission Problems?

An automatic transmission with 300,000 miles on it should be in some kind of record book it's unheard of !!! It seems counterintuitive but changing the fluid on a tranny with this many miles can be the death knell. I have seen it many times but if you got that many miles out of it was on deaths door anyway. If you are really attached to it don't even think about a junk yard tranny, they will be just a little less worn out that the original in you car now. FYI it's going to be at least 2G's to have it rebuilt.

My 92 accord shift level moves but will not engage any gear

First check the trans fluid (if its not a sealed transmission). They wont shift in gear if they are to low. If that is fine, The shift solenoid has most likley gone bad.

I have a 91 honda accord with an automatic trans. & when i shift into reverse it refuses to engage & makes a high pitch gear slipping grinding sound ! NOT GOOD ! ,I just replaced the transmission con

Definitely not good. The transmission is slipping internally due to worn gears and clutch packs. It will have to come out for rebuilding, IMO. Have a transmission shop check it out.
Good luck.

Check engine light came on today honda accord v6 2003 at 97k miles. car makes a thump sound when put into reverse hot or cold. sometimes when i turn and accelerate i can reproduce this feeling moving...

Take your car to a mechanic or your local auto parts superstore and have them read/scan the codes for the reason for the check engine light. A good place to start.

1999 Accord Coupe V6 A/T Prolem

That transaxle has long been a problem for Honda & they have NEVER really properly engineered it to be free of defects Unfortunately. I had a similar problem at around 66,000 miles with my V6 Accord EXL Coupe & at that time Honda did the right thing and repaired the transmission but made me pay for the labor (a fair yet semi-expensive) fix but reasonable. Then more recently around 152,400 miles the transmission failed again & began slipping. I had asked for Honda to do another fix of the transmission & I pay for the labor BUT they refused. I find it sad when a major company does not stand behind a product they know has had defects & issues throughout the entire product line of the V6 Accord & Odyssey (which use the same transaxle) & instead states from the warranty booklet (which I understand but think a Honda vehicle should last for several hundred thousand miles) especially when the owner followed & follows all of the recommended preventative maintenance in the service handbook from Honda...especially when the car looks like it is brand new & now it has a New Transmission too...no thanks to Honda corporate :)
