Where do you find the pcv valve on a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick JX 1.6, and is it possible to somehow clean it or do you have to replace it. 71,000 miles on the engine right now.

this is easy, in 97 , they moved the TCM (****** brain) inside the ECU, and is now called a PCM power train control model above your left knee, same places as old ECU ,cept in RHD countries. fixkick,com
Try adjusting the idle speed to specification. Try also to check for leaks in your intake manifold. Check also the valve clearance. If all checks are alright, have somebody look into your emission system components.
In this case you need to take a look at your EGR Valve and Solenoid. I would check with your local auto parts store to see if they check those for free (some do and others charge a small fee). Most likely you have a bad EGR Valve or EGR Solenoid. Hopefully this gives you some direction. Thanks for using FixYa!
