Anti-theft alarm goes off, lights flash, horn blares & the van wont crank over even though battery is good . I unhooked the battery for 10 min the 1st time this happened and everything reset & the van started up again. A day later, same problem except unhooking the battery won't reset the problem. this is a 1998 Ford windstar van. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated

It's going to have to be looked at. But you can try unlocking a different door with the key. Hold it to the left (unlock position) for 2 or three seconds. Should shut off the alarm and allow you to start it.

Did you try doing it on all of the doors and the hatch? Especially the P/S sliding door. The rear sensor goes bad and causes the interior light to stay on too. So, since the sensor goes bad the van doesn't arm/disarm properly. You can try taking the sliding door panel off and cutting the wires to the rear sensor and hooking them together. Or try cleaning the contact pins in the front of the sliding door jamb so they make good contact.

Cranks, but why doesn't it start?

Sounds like your anti theft system is acting up. Try unhooking the battery for 10 min. and hook back up.

2006 CHRYSLER VAN PUT KEY IN TO CRANK AND HORN BLOWS AND WILL NOT CRANK

This can be a tough one but in all probability the problem will be in your anti theft system. Try this, have someone boost the battery. The engine should turn over and the horn will sound. When it starts use your key fob to lock and unlock the doors. That should reset your alarm system. In all probability your battery needs replacing. Try that. Good luck.

Anti theft wont let me start car

The problem may not be with anti-theft but with a bad fuel pump,cam/crank sensor etc. Also, you may try unlocking the drivers door with the key. On most cars that is the standard method for disabling the security system.

The body shop unhooked my car battery and know my anti-theft system is locked . how do i unlock it . they said something about they unhooked my alarm. PLEASE HELP!!

This worked on a 2000 so try it and see if it works on yours.

Disconnect both battery wires and "short" them together. This kills stored memory.

(1)Turn key to crank & then release. Security light still on. Wait till it goes off (maybe 15 minutes)
(2)Turn to off. Repeat step one.
(3)Turn to off. Repeat step one.
(4) Turn to off. Wait 20 seconds and start car.

Key must go to full off on each pass. Must have fully charged battery. Good Luck.

Even if this does not work a good testimonial would be appreciated

Anti theft activated-now car won't start and radio won't work. Radio won't take radio code and car cranks but doesn't start, horn blares, and headlights flash. I don't have the other code for the anti...

to turn off the theft system, all you have to do is put the key in the door lock and lock and unlock the door, this shuts down the anti theft system, now this has nothing to do with the radio, the only way the radio would ask for the code is if it was removed or the battery unhooked, anyway try the unlocking of the door even try the passenger door, hope this helps.
