How to replace the heater core

its a tough job because it is located behind the dashboard in the car so the dash and and everything blocking the heater core will have to come out once you get to it its an easy replacement

How do replace the heater core?

This job is very fragile and you can damage hard to get parts. I suggest letting a qualified shop do this job. If you insist, what you do is open the heater box and extract the core. Fairly tough job.

2001 s-10 4.3 pickup. How to replace heater core.

changing the heater core in this vehicle is a long and annoying task. I just went through it. You will need to remove the entire dash board in order to access the heater core.Once you have removed the dashboard it isn't that tough. Try to cover the floorboards with plastic or something so coolant doesn't soak into your carpet. Remove the screws holding the heater core to the fire wall, disconnect the intake and return lines in the engine compartment and remove the heater core. Afetr you have removed the old core installing the new one should be easy. Dealerships will tell you that this is an 8 hr job and they will want $500 or more for labor but you can do it in 4 - 5 hrs. A new heatercore will cost around $50. Don't forget to have antifeeze on hand as you will lose some.

Replacment of heater core on 01 chevy S-10

Have replaced my heater core in my 2001 regular cab 4wd in december 2009. Had to pull the complete dash including the complete metal dash behind the dash that you see. Also had to remove the right passenger side inner fender well to acess the remaining two bolts that hold the heater core cover to the firewall. Its an insane job to do but the repair shop books call for 9 1/2 hrs to do the job. I'm not an expert but this is what it takes.

Need to replace heater core I need to replace my heater core and want to know the best way to do it

You will have to remove the entire dash assembly and then remove the air conditioning/heater case and this will enable you to have access replace the heater core, this is a really tough job did it 3 or 4 times while working at a Ford dealer, took 10 hours and I had allot of experience, unless you have allot of tech savvy I would pay someone to do it, I would, and I am a Professional mechanic.
