    Like my phrase says....easy to take apart...a pain to put back together....



    It all depends on how mechanically inclined you are and how much patience you have. Having the right tools, even if you have to rent them for a day, it will make the job easier and keep you from spending more money on any additional labor and parts. If you think it looks like too much for you, then I would take it to a mechanics garage.

If the timing belt tensioner goes bad will it make a knocking sound on a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
Lol absolutely. It will knock if bad on any car. Need to replace it and the timing belt/chain asap. If not you will kill the engine.

I have a 2002 mitsubushi montero sport. The brake/battery light won't go off. I replaced the battery yesterday and car starts and stays running but lights seem a little dim and the dang brake/battery...
CHECK ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT COULD BE LOOSE NEED ADJUSTING OR GLAZED NEED REPLACING. IF ALL IS GOOD, CHECK ALTERNATOR VOLTAGE OUT PUT AT BATTERY SHOULD BE 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS. IF NOT ALTERNATOR FAULTY BUT CHECK ALTERNATOR BATTERY FEED AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES FOR LOOSE CONNECTION OR DAMAGED FRAYED WIRES. CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE.CHECK THOSE THINGS BEFORE BUYING NEW ALTERNATOR.FIRST TURN OFF RADIO BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY CABLE TO KEEP FROM LOCKING OUT RADIO.
