I know the squeak is coming from the front of the engine somewhere. I have changed the idler pulley, the alternator, and the belt tensioner. I have removed the a/c belt and none of this worked. When I replaced the belt, it stopped for about three weeks and then came right back. Any ideas?
There is a pulley out of alignment. Only 1/8th inch out will cause a serpentine to sqeak.
I had the same problem with my Alero. I got the alternator changed out twice. I had the tension pulley changed twice as well, also same goes for the serpentine belt. I also had water pump pulley replaced. What had helped (been 3 days now) was getting all the pulleys cleaned and then putting another brand new belt even though the one I had was 2 months old. I hope this helps. I had been dealing with this issue for almost one year before I got the squeal to stop. It is looking promising so far.
Could be the water pump.
